Gee, Am I behind on my Posts! Update on the backporch project

Actually finished the back porch project over a week ago! Been busy with our kitty, more on her later....
I think the porch turned out pretty good. Below are some pics now that it is mostly done (still need to put up some shelves and a cabinet, and do a bit of trim work).....

The new floor (dirt colored)
new home for jackets and stuff
Organized storage!
Love the bright clean walls!
Well that is it for my quick summer project. Our new project is taming a feral kitten....Once we can tame her, so that we can take a picture of her, will start her story.

Back Porch Continued!

We had to go to the Lumber yard Saturday when I discovered what I thought was thin wood that had warped, was actually 1/8" cardboard! So I ripped it out, and we spent Saturday cutting and putting up the bits of wall.
The bits of Cardboard
Bits of wall missing

More bits of wall missing
Still more bits
Once we got real wood in place we spent the rest of Saturday evening at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundations annual banquet. It was fun seeing people we hadn't seen for awhile. Sunday spent most of the day priming the whole room. I have learned with this house that KILZ primer (Zissner is another good one) is the only way to go! Also, KILZ casual colors paint is good too..... However, this time I am using a True Value paint. The backporch will be painted in a green tinted white called 'Sea Salt', all of the trim is in a plain White, but some of the trim I am painting this really neat blue/green called 'Hallucination'. Started painting the trim today.....But first things first.....The following are pics after everything was primed....I love beadboard, but what a pain to paint!
Glad this is only the primer...Too Much White!
Look! Real Wood this time!
Well, this is taking more than 3 or 4 days I fear, but will keep going till it is done! More to come later.....

Summer Garden

Got behind..... so attached are some pictures of our Garden, both Vegetable and Flower! The Tomato's, lettuce, peas and jalapeno's did really good this year! The parsley got out of control!

One small Bell Pepper...Better luck next year!
15 Jalapeno's! Nice Flavor, not too hot!

Lettuce!
Parsley with Rosemary in the back!
Bought 2 Pea plants on a lark and they did great. Wind storm almost destroyed our Blackberry, but it came back!
2 Tomato plants, 1 is a Roma, they are ripening fast...
The following are some pics of a Dahlia plant I got this spring....Forgot about it and planted it late...but it is doing great!
Will upload more garden pics later. Will also do the next installment of the Backporch saga.

End of Summer Quick Project

Tired of the back porch, started working on it yesterday afternoon. Hoping it should take only 3 or 4 days to complete (We'll see....You know the old addage...The best laid plans....)...Anyway, Here are some pictures of the before!

When we first moved in.

Love the wood!
The backporch used to have carpet, but replaced that with wood looking vinyl planking (will take a pic later!). Need to take some pics of the stripped down (inbetween work), but right now, it is off to the lumber store to get some wood trim (discovered what I thought was thin wood between and above my windows was actually cardboard! Also have picked an accent color so have to run to the paint store for a quart of trim paint! Check back tomorrow for the further adventures of the backporch!

Gato (1992-2010)

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
